Daily News, Washigton: US President Donald Trump watched Chinese President Xi Jinping for "remarkable achievements" after the number one man in the Bamboo Curtain country confirmed his position in the Communist Party.

The congratulations are written on the official Twitter account, after chatting with Xi via phone line.

"I have spoken with Xi from China to congratulate on the great achievement, I also discuss NoKo and trade, two very important subjects," writes Trump, as quoted by the BBC, Thursday, October 26, 2017.

Xi confirmed his position in the Communist Party for the next five years, after being elected again as chairman because there is no more ideal candidate to replace him.

The name Xi and his doctrine have been written in the Constitution of the Communist Party. This makes it parallel to the great figure of China, Mao Zedong.

Trump and Xi are scheduled to discuss in China next month, after meeting at the G20 summit in July.

In a phone call, Xi expressed his desire to work with Trump to "make a blueprint for the future development of US relations with China."

China is the second largest economy in the world after the United States. Beijing is Washington's largest trading partner.

Relations between the two countries were strained over territorial disputes in the South China Sea and East China Sea. US reminds China not to unilaterally claim territory.

Last Wednesday, Xi formally continued his leadership for a second period in the Communist Party.

Equivalent to Mao Zedong, some parties question whether Xi plans to continue leading China beyond 2022.
